Blackjack Dealers working at tables with high limits may earn $100 to $500 or more an hour in tips. While formal training is not required to become a Blackjack Dealer, many casinos prefer to hire applicants who have gone through a gaming school or institute or at least taken classes in dealing blackjack. Gaming schools are located in areas hosting gambling casinos. Some casinos also have their own training facilities or offer on-the-job training. Gaming schools offer classes during the day, evenings, and weekends to accommodate people working in the gaming industry. Some schools also offer classes after the midnight shift and on weekends to further accommodate workers.
Casino Blackjack Dealers, like most other casino employees, must usually be licensed in the state in which they work. There are also minimum age requirements. Because cards are mixed and dealt in a certain manner, manual dexterity is also required.
