Computer Glasses Online

Working significant amount of time with computers may result in tired eyes leading to various other disorders. This can be easily cured by using a special kind of prescription glasses called "computer glasses".
Computer glasses are prescribed to reduce the effects associated with Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). CVS refers to a group of symptoms which result from prolonged use of computers. The basic reason for these symptoms to appear is that, the eyes and brain react differently to the words on a computer screen than to the printed words. These symptoms include eyestrain, dry eyes and headaches with blurred vision.
Even computer users wearing regular prescribed glasses are not safe from CVS. To counter the above symptoms, they lean forward to the screen or try to look at it through the bottom portion of their glasses. These practices lead to back and shoulder pain. Also known for causing CVS is presbyopia which is a vision disorder leading to the loss of the eye's ability to change focus, to see near objects. This disorder develops with age and generally becomes noticeable around the age of forty.
Since the computer screen is placed a little further away than the distance comfortable for reading, simple prescription glasses are not enough. With computer glasses, the whole lens is positioned in such a way, that it focuses at the same distance. So the users can do without the tilting of their heads.

The following lenses are specially designed for computer use:

• Single Vision: They are the simplest kind of computer glasses, with the entire lens designed for seeing the computer monitor. It is quite popular among users of all age. The only disadvantage is that the objects farther and closer than the computer screen will look blurred.
• Flat-Top Bifocal: Just like the regular bifocal lens, the top half is used to look at the computer screen while the bottom half is used to see closer reading material. A visible line runs through the lens diving it into too halves. Though the near range view is quite good, objects at a distance look blurry.
• Variable Focus: It has a small top segment to see objects at a distance, a wide intermediate segment to look at the computer screen and again a small segment at the bottom to look at reading material. No visible lines are present on the lens.

For computer glasses to be of any use it should be properly prescribed. Though one can buy cheap computer glasses online, he/she should first consult an optometrist or an ophthalmologist to decide on the correct type of lens.
