Energy Star Rebates

Energy Star rebates act as enticing encouragement to get consumers thinking about efficiency... energy efficiency, that is! These rebates are occasionally sponsored by Energy Star partners and will vary based on your location. Take a look to see for what you might qualify. If you have purchased any kind of product or appliance bearing the Energy Star label, now might be your chance to cash in on your effort to help paint the world a brighter shade of green.

Note, however, that not all Energy Star partners sponsor rebates. You may also be eligible for federal tax credits, though, if you have made energy efficiency improvements to your home.

You can find rebates on major household appliances such as clothes washers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, residential dehumidifiers, room air conditioners and water coolers. If you need a little air circulation indoors, you may qualify for a rebate on the purchase of an eligible ceiling fan or residential ventilation fan. Your purchase of heating or cooling equipment could get you some cash back. Eligible products include boilers, central air conditioning units, electric heat pumps, furnaces, geothermal heat pumps and programmable thermostats.

Believe it or not, some home electronics are even eligible for Energy Star rebates. Imagine getting cash rebates for your home entertainment and communication equipment! Audio and DVD products, audio/video combination units, cordless phones, Blu-ray, telephone and answering systems, set-top boxes, and some televisions qualify for these types of rebates.

Certain home improvement products can net you more than just a tax credit. Rebate-qualified products include insulation; roofing products; energy-saving windows, doors and skylights; and certain residential water heaters (including gas condensing heat pumps, high-efficiency gas storage, solar-electric, solar-gas, whole-home gas and tankless types).

Feeling a little dim? Some lighting products may qualify as well. Energy Star rebates may be available on CFL bulbs, decorative light strings, LED lighting, and some light fixtures.

Of course, if you have found the need to purchase any major office equipment, you might want to take a look to see if you are able to get a little something back. Energy Star rebates could be available to you if you have purchased any of the following: computers (including notebook and tablet PCs), copiers, digital duplicators, displays, fax machines, mailing machines, multifunction devices and printers and scanners (includes all-in-ones).

Energy Star partners sometimes sponsor sales tax exemptions or credits and recycling incentives for the correct disposal of your old and outdated products. Be on the lookout for these as well.

The best way to find Energy Star rebates and other partner programs is through the zip code search on the Energy Star website or by doing an Internet search for "Energy Star rebates." You could also specifically search for ads and products offering the rebate or ask your retailer before your buy.
