How to take care of acne


Although acne may seem frustrating to control at times, it can be easier if you control the right factors. The first step is to determine what type of acne you have and what specifically produces it on your skin. This is not very difficult, many types of acne are determined by what type of blemishes they are accompanied by. There are many references that are available to help you along the way including, cyber-references, medical journals, and dermatologists.

Once you have established what type of products to use, follow the instructions carefully. Some differ in strength depending on the severity of your acne. Apply the medication as instructed regularly, this should help considerably in the eventual elimination of your acne altogether.

A proper diet is also necessary to controlling acne and blemishes. If your skin is oily, you should probably stay away from over-consumption of salty, oily, sugary foods such as junk food and candy. Fruits, vegetables, and fish have proven to be very helpful to the upkeep of a healthy complexion. Staying fully hydrated also helps keep your pores clean and working properly.

At all costs, avoid touching your face and popping your zits by hand. The oil and bacteria from your hands and fingernails allow for acne to continue thriving in your pores. A helpful solution is to find a concealer or foundation containing salicylic acid. Not only will this prevent you from touching your face because of the make-up, but it also helps the zit heal throughout the day.

Weekly indulgences for your complexion are not a bad idea either. There are a plentiful amount of face masks that help clean deeper than a regular face wash does. Using a facial exfoliator, like St. Ives Apricot Scrub, once a week will also help clear the dead skin and clean deep inside your pores. But use is only recommended once or twice a week because of the intense drying out of the skin that is experienced after exfoliation.

As always, if all else fails, return to a dermatologist. Not every product is reputable, and sometimes individual acne is more severe than the acne possessed by others. But don't lose hope; there are other factors that you may need to consider before your acne disappears forever. For example, your lifestyle and stress levels are also directly linked to acne, and should be evaluated if changes need to be made.
