IT Asset Disposition :: Giving Enterprises A Helping Hand

Information Technology helps the computers and software to manage information's. The entire department is denoted as "IT". It is helpful in storing, protecting, processing, retrieving the data. Information Technology Asset Disposition can allow enterprises to be obedient with environmental regulations, improves data security and decrease the total cost of ownership. The Purpose is also to maximize the return and minimize the risk related with asset decommissioning. In order to pursue maximum possible return on capital investments, ITAD must be levered in the most efficient manner.

Information Technology Asset Disposition can occur because of the following reasons. For example: The asset may no longer operates properly and must be taken out of commission. It is simply outdated and needs to put back by a fresher, better solution. It is being renovated and redistributed to another user, or sold to a third party Information Technology Asset Disposition is perfect reprocessing and remarketing of assets. A complete ITAD program includes safer transportation, removal of data, reuse of data, and data reporting.

Today ITAD has large growth because lot of companies prefer the equipment to be recycled instead of just sitting around in order to make sure it doesn't end up in the wrong hands or in a dumpster. ITAD is eventually became a branding and many opportunities are been prioritized and given to the companies, that possess this branding. ITAD is necessary part for data security because companies have need of data destruction for hard drives as well as proof of data abolition, for future references. Apart from all these purposes, many companies are becoming environment conscious. E-waste is the fastest growing solid waste component.

Nearly 50% million metric tons of electronic products are discarded annually. Environmental Protective Agency (EPA) says that only 12.5% of the solid wastes are collected for recycling remaining 87.5% results in landfills. Restrictions on Hazarders Substances (ROHS) laws have been adopted through USA and Europe to control recycling of solid waste. The importance of ITAD is often underestimated. If organizations require maximum return in their investments, ITAD must be adopted as one of the business process. There are two aspects for asset disposition. The asset has future productive value in case of asset recovery. The asset has no future productivity value in case of asset disposal.

In par with the ITAD, redeployment is another way to manage the growth of IT assets with minimum investment. The companies can patch up and reimage the recoverable equipment for redeployment for end users. With so many advantages with ITAD process, there are certain weaknesses in the process. They can be listed as: They are inflexible. They are superfluous process. ITAD is opaque process. It is uneven process. All Organization must take action to implement ITAD program which will give them the opportunity of moving forward in improvement in process, centralized regulations and environmental fulfillment.
