Blood cancer

Cancer of the blood (a common form is called leukaemia) is one of these cancer types that you can't see or feel. However, you can suspect leukaemia if you notice one or more from the following symptoms, especially if they occur in combination. If you suspect leukaemia, consult your doctor:

You develop regular night sweats.
You bruise more easily than you accustomed to, or you bleed when you're brushing your teeth without having any obvious gum disease.
You have been slimming down for no no reason.
You itch throughout without having a skin condition as such.
You are afflicted by recurrent unexplained infections.
You have new and persistent pain in your bones that remains even if you rest, and that may get worse when you consume alcohol.
You feel very tired more often than ususal.

Cancer of the skin

Most people have moles - brownish spots that could be located anywhere on your skin. Usually, moles are light brown in colour, possess a clear and welldefined border, don't tend to grow fast in size and usually don't itch or bleed.

Different types of cancer of the skin exist, and one of them may seem like a dark mole: melanoma is a kind of cancer of the skin that's linked to sun exposure and is particularly dangerous since it can spread quickly to other areas of your body.

In most cases, think about the chance of skin cancer if you notice an epidermis lesion bigger than 5 millimetres (1/5 inch) approximately in diameter that doesn't heal and/or gets larger in size. Two relatively common skin cancers are known as squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma. Melanoma is a bit different in that it often develops on the basis of a mole - a brand new one or an existing mole that suddenly or gradually changes. See your doctor if you notice any of the following changes in one of your moles:

Your mole changes size, shape or colour.
Your mole develops irregular borders.
Your mole has different colours in it and it is quite dark.
Your mole suddenly 'feels' different - for instance, it starts to itch or hurt.
Your mole begins to bleed for no apparent reason.

As you get older, you might develop what are called seborrhoic warts. These warts can resemble melanomas but they are completely benign and nothing to bother with. You're likely to have more than one of those warts, and the've a typical 'stuck-on' appearance.
