Also, the electric RC cars don't perform as well as the gas powered ones. If you get one that doesn't seem to have enough power, you can always upgrade the engine later.
If an electric car isn't doing it for you, there are gas powered remote control cars out there. They are usually for more advanced racers though since they require more maintenance than the electric kind, and due to the gas, they can also make a bigger mess. However, the speeds can get up to 60-80 mph and time to refuel is quick. The experience seems more realistic though, with the sound of the screaming engine and the smell of the smoke from the exhaust.
