The Right Way to Do Business Cards

Everyone has a business card, it doesn't really matter what yours looks like, so long as you have one, right? After all, what do people really expect from a business card? The only purpose of it is to get people to remember who you are, so just putting your company name on it is more than enough.

This is the mentality that a lot of companies seem to share. They aren't looking at the business card as an actual marketing tool, but merely a means of being remembered after talking to someone.

A weak business card isn't going to be much more useful than no business card at all. This is a marketing tool, and a very important one. The reason why so many companies have been using business card printing for so many years is because it works wonders as a means of advertising yourself, you just need to know how to make yours look its best.

When it comes to other forms of marketing, such as brochures, what do you typically do when it comes time to make one? Most companies are going to hire a designer to make their brochures look the best that they can. Are you doing this with your business cards?

A lot of people just take a basic design that serves no function other than having their name and contact information. This is an opportunity to impress others if you have a really well thought out business card.

Does your company have a brand name or prominent logo? That should definitely be on your card. Do you have a motto or something else that distinguishes you from the competition? There's another key feature that your business card should show.

You want to make sure that your cards have a very strong visual flare. The more commonplace your designs are the less likely it is that other people will remember you a few months down the line when they pick your card back up.

Think about your card from the perspective of a perfect stranger and ask yourself what it tells you about your company. The plainer your card is the less information it gives out. If there isn't any personality than how is a person supposed to connect to your company and remember you?

Next time you put in an order for business card printing ask yourself what will best help people remember you? You want to be professional, sure, but that doesn't mean you have to do the most basic design possible. Get creative. This is just as much about marketing as any other kind of advertisement your company might make.

The next time someone is sorting through their stacks of business cards you want them to pause on yours and immediately remember who you were. If your card looks like everyone else's, what are the odds of that happening?
