Upper and lower Eyelid Surgery

EYELID SURGERY

(Blepharoplasty)

The objective of upper eyelid surgery is to remove the fold of the skin that forms between the eyelash and eyebrow, which conceals the natural eyelid and obscures the cleft that separates the lid from the brow. Eyes appear "hooded." This profound pleat-like fold of skin may interfere with normal vision when it becomes heavy.

This letter is to express my satisfaction with my recent eye surgery and report back to you the results in terms of the change in my life after making a decision to have this procedure. The procedure itself went very smoothly and I could see clearly enough to get around in only a few days. Within three to four weeks, I looked like a more awake and vigorous version of my old self. The change is exactly what I want in that I still look like my old self, only better, more alert and younger.

The general opinion of my friends was that I look different but they could not quite decide what was different, except I look more awake and younger. I redoubled my career search, with extra confidence and I''m happy to report that I now have the highest and best paying computer sales position in my industry…Appearance in how you both feel and present yourself is a part of life and taking action to improve yourself simply makes good sense.

Standard upper lid surgery removes this excess skin and fatty tissue through an incision neatly placed in that natural crease between the eyelid and eyebrow. The incision can be fashioned using a specific laser beam or a conventional scalpel technique. The end result is the same in either case. These incisions should become nearly (or completely) invisible within a short period of time. Even though the lids are somewhat "tight" at first, they gradually relax and assume normal function. Symmetry between right and left sides is extremely important to the success of the operation.

As the nation ages, surgeries such as eyelid cosmetic surgery have grown common increasing by 139% between 1992 and 1999. Forehead and brow lifts…increasing by 203% during the same time period.

Lower eyelid surgery is performed primarily to remove "bags" caused by bulging fatty tissue beneath the skin. One incision for removal of fatty tissue and/or skin is made very close to the lower lashes and extends into one of the crow''s feet or laugh lines.

These incisions heal rapidly and are barely visible. An option for some younger patients is to remove only fatty tissue through an internal incision behind the lower lid. The surgeon''s choice of incision depends on various factors determined by examination. Upper and lower eyelid cosmetic surgery can be performed independently of one another or together.
