What is International Health Insurance?

International health insurance does exactly what it says on the tin - offer medical cover to people staying overseas. The most common people who purchase International health insurance are the likes of students - foreign workers and expatriates who have taken up new lives in foreign lands. Although most companies will pay for their employee's health insurance if they contract them to work in different countries.

All these people will purchase international health insurance to cover for any medical or hospital treatment they may need when living working or studying abroad. The Fortunate's who move to hotter countries tend to use expat health insurance products more than students and overseas workers.

This combination helps patients get faster treatments than they would in the UK. It is widely accepted in Spain that most citizens only use the National Health Service for emergencies.

As Spain is one of the top tourist destinations in Europe if not the world - most medical staff speak English whilst in the denser tourist hotspots you can find interpreters who speak a wide range of languages The hospitals and clinics offer good medical facilities all around the country and not just in the big cities and tourist hotspots.

Most large health care centres and hospitals have accident and emergency services. Although most expats who live or work in Spain are entitled to use public health services for free - most still prefer to cover themselves with International health insurance. Giving them the peace and mind should anything go wrong.
