What is Your Call For Action

Every advertisement needs to have one, but a lot of companies forget about this important step. What action is your advertisement calling for people to do?

This doesn't have to be a very complicated affair. If you want them to come in and shop, do you actually ask them to come in and shop? Does your advertisement tell them to hurry in this weekend for a great deal? Do you ask anything at all from them?

I've seen plenty of full color brochures from companies where they just describe a product and nothing more. My guess is that they assume people will naturally think to themselves, "I'd like to go in and buy that product."

Sometimes this is going to be true, but on plenty of other occasions a person just isn't going to be putting much thought to it. The point is that a lot of people don't really care that much about the advertisements that they're reading. Because of this they aren't really thinking very much about it even as they read through it.

This is why a specific call for action is needed in order to get them motivated to buy. You're telling them that this is what they need to do now that they're done reading, and if you have them interested they're more likely to listen to what you have to say.

These days with how many different ways there are to buy something it might be a matter of them honestly not knowing what to do next. Is your product available by mail order, or are they meant to go to a website, or even come into your store? If you don't tell them where they need to go they won't always know and you won't get your business.

Before you start your brochure printing you need to be aware of exactly what kind of action you want from the customers. This isn't always just going to be come in and shop right away. Sometimes if you're advertising a sale you'll have a deadline that they need to come in and shop by. These are the easiest kinds of advertisements to come up with a call for action for because the call is obvious.

If you aren't talking about a sale than decide what you want them to do next. If you are a primarily web based business than tell them to log on and check out your website today. I'm aware this all seems quite simple, and if more businesses bothered to use a proper call for action in their full color brochures I wouldn't even be writing an article like this.

Just take a second the next time you have some brochure printing to do and see if you really have a strong call for action in your brochures. It might seem basic, but it makes a big difference, and there's no good reason to be without one. Sometimes the smallest things are the most overlooked.
